Taking The First Step To Traveling Alone
Feeling nervous is completely normal when traveling, especially when you are by yourself. The good news is after a few trips you will know what it feels like to adventure alone and you will realize you can do it. This confidence will just grow and grow. My biggest tip is to take a small trip first. How about a few days somewhere not too far away? Get some idea of how you feel when you go out to eat by yourself in a restaurant. How will you react if you feel lonely? Discover if you are the type that needs to be busy exploring or if you prefer reading a great book with a pretty view. Taking a short trip is a very valuable way to learn how you actually feel on a solo adventure.

Will you choose to drive, take a train or fly? Make a list of places then begin to research things you want to do there. I prefer to have a list of things I’d like to see and details about them. My researching will include museum hours, ticket purchasing info, walking trails, tours and anything else I want to see so I can create a flexible itinerary. I will google restaurants in the area to try, farmers markets, craft fairs and most important of all the best area to stay. Make sure you are choosing a safe area that you will be comfortable walking around in.

If after all of your prepping and planning you still feel too nervous to venture out there alone how about inviting a friend for the last part of your trip. This will give you the best of both worlds and something to look forward to. Remember solo traveling can be a lot of fun and don’t be afraid to laugh at yourself when all things don’t go according to plan. Happy Travels!
